All Square, the international social network for golfers, is releasing the mobile iOS application to coincide with the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.
All Square is a social platform that connects passionate golfers around the world; creating a space where players can share their experiences about the courses they’ve played and discover important information about the courses they want to play. It’s a platform that’s working to build a comprehensive, cooperative roadmap of all the best golf courses in the world, so that people who live for the fairway can stay connected.
Co-founders Patrick Rahme and Arthur de Rivoire, who are both avid golfers, started the company a year ago. Patrick has played in European championships and is a member of the Golf Club Grand-Ducal in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Arthur was a member of the Swiss National team and has also played in several European Championships. The idea for All Square was born when the two golfers met at the HEC Lausanne business school.
“Everything started the day we wondered how many top 100 courses we’ve played. When we noticed that we’d only played two we thought, Jesus if we die tomorrow we haven’t seen anything. We realized that there’s no platform allowing us to create a timeline of our history.” Patrick said.
Patrick and Arthur realized that there was something lacking in the golf industry in terms of technology and that it needed to be disrupted.
“We wanted to create a platform that allows people to compare and share their golf experience. Many of our competitors focus on the score tracking of the game, but we wanted people to just share their experience on the golf course.” Arthur said.
While the name All Square might sound like a riff on Foursquare to the average person, it’s actually a term that golf lovers know well. When Patrick and Arthur played golf together for the first time, they reached the end of the game with their score perfectly tied, meaning they finished all square. The two seemed destined for a successful partnership from the very beginning.
Since the launch of the website in August, All Square has had more than 650 courses join the platform, and now that the mobile app has launched, they’re going after 25,000 more. In addition to all of their success, All Square has recently come to Silicon Valley as a part of the Plug and Play International Accelerator three-month program. The Valley has been waiting for such a marriage between golf and tech, and All Square couldn’t be more thrilled to do the honors.
“This is paradise for us because most of the people in the Bay Area are in the tech business, and most of those people play golf. So this is heaven for us.” Arthur said.
